Dr. Adefesoye Victor Akinpelumi is the Director, Disease Control and Immunizaion of Ondo State Primary Health Care Development Agency.
Immunization is an important component of Primary Health Care that focuses on preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases through vaccination, which helps by reducing the risk of getting diseases by working with natural defences to build protection.
GOALS
To protect individuals or communities from vaccine- preventable diseases.
DEPARTMENT OBJECTIVES
1) To increase maintenance and sustain effective immunization of the target groups (children 0-23 months and pregnant women) using reaching every ward strategies.
2) strenghthen vaccine storage.
3) To prmote effective distribution channel that will ensure regular servicing of outreach post in the community.
4)To foster community participation and ownership of immuniztion services.
5) To promot adequate involvement of the private sector in immunization services.
6) To ensure reduction in defaulter rate by 80%.
